Conservatives and Libertarians United Against Ron Paul

Watching what Ron Paul does. Not what he says.

Gay Marriage

When it comes to preserving traditional marriage, Ron Paul really is “Dr. No.”

Ron Paul voted NO on Constitutional Amendment banning same-sex marriage.

Marriage Protection Amendment – Declares that marriage in the United States shall consist only of the union of a man and a woman. Prohibits the Constitution or any State constitution from being construed to require that marital status or its legal incidents be conferred upon any union other than that of a man and a woman. Reference: Constitutional Amendment sponsored by Rep Musgrave [R, CO-4]; Bill H.J.RES.106 ; vote number 2004-484 on Sep 30, 2004

Ron Paul voted NO on Constitutionally defining marriage as one-man-one-woman.

Proposing an amendment to the Constitution stating: “Marriage in the US shall consist only of the union of a man and a woman. Neither this Constitution, nor the constitution of any State, shall be construed to require that marriage or the legal incidents thereof be conferred upon any union other than the union of a man and a woman.”Proponents support voting YES because:

The overwhelming majority of the American people support traditional marriage, marriage between a man and a woman. The people have a right to know whether their elected Representatives agree with them about protecting traditional marriage.

Every child deserves both a father and a mother. Studies demonstrate the utmost importance of the presence of a child’s biological parents in a child’s happiness, health and future achievements. If we chip away at the institution which binds these parents and the family together, the institution of marriage, you begin to chip away at the future success of that child.

Rep. Paul: Don’t ask, don’t tell is a decent policy for gays in army

Q: Most of our closest allies, including Great Britain and Israel, allow gays and lesbians to openly serve in the military. Is it time to end “Don’t ask, don’t tell” policy and allow gays and lesbians to serve openly in the US military?A: I think the current policy is a decent policy.

SO I just want to say about this “marriage being between a man and a woman” issue. I think it’s sad that there are so many marriages between a man and a woman that are corrupt, abusive, and end up in divorce. Marriage isn’t defined as being between a man and a woman, it is the union of two people that LOVE each other. That’s right, I said it! How come no one mentions ANYTHING about LOVE? That’s what I think marriage is about. Am I the only one? No I am not gay, I am straight. And I have gay friends and for them to be told, “sorry, it’s only between a man and a woman” who might not even love each other, rather then two people who just want to marry each other because they love each other and want to spend their lives together. What happened to this world? What happened to people being smart and stop listening to religion, politics, media, etc. Listen to yourselves and open your eyes to the world that could be, the world for our children to grow in. And gay adoption? No? So what you are saying is a straight couple can make 10 kids so they can live off of welfare and be trash and raise kids that curse and cause trouble, but the children that are ALREADY BORN can NOT be raised by what could be decent people and MAYBE, just maybe have a chance? Think about this, those kids that are trouble are going to grow up with YOUR children. Yes, your kids are going to have to hang out with those kids instead of children who were actually raised right. So start thinking for yourself and stop letting people think for you.

A TRUE libertarian that you claim to be would know the govt has no business in marriages AT ALL…..this is a private, church function and NO GOVERNMENT has the right to tell ANYONE who they can or can’t marry. It is simply NONE of the government’s business, and there should be NO special treatment for any two ( or more ) people who wish to form a private contract over those who wish not to do so.

And TRUE interpretation of the Constitution would show this is a 9th and 10th amendment issue. The whole problem with the Federal Govt today is they want to micro-manage every single aspect of our lives.

Nobody has ever given me a GOOD argument as to WHY marriage should be defined only between a man and a woman. I understand completely why they should not be able to adopt. (Because it involves an innocent person). However, this is between to consenting adults who want to live their lives a certain way. I don’t care what two men do on their own in their private time. I don’t care even what they call it!! Call it whatever you want! What’s with the self-centered attitude that some people have about the word “marriage”? It’s just a word right?? Now…the only thing that could be argued is that gay couples would be getting the same nice tax breaks that normal (man-woman) marriages would recieve. HOWEVER, if Ron Paul had his way, we wouldn’t even have an IRS so, there wouldn’t be any tax breaks to give!! So in other words…you are treating everyone, whether they are single, married or whatever their status may be, exactly the same. And then at THAT point, the only thing people are fighting over is nothing more than a word.

to all of the above gay marriage fans,
the Massachusetts hard line catholics are calling for the politicans that voted for gay marriage to be kicked out of the” knights of columbus” a catholic organization. I could’t agree more. They are not honoring the catholic church. This is another group of politicans who forgot that they are put in office by the voters to do what the voters want them to do, not what they think is right. These 16 politicans range from the governor to his assistant, and speaker of the house 14 others!!! What a disgrace. This state is the only state to vote for gay marriage.

If we didn’t have laws and rules, and guide lines in this world people like you would be complete animals, In fact you would want to marry animals. You are a bunch of”wack jobs”

  9. mickmck707 said

do you care about anything. Did you ever thing that we are talking generations of kids hear I don’t know if you have any, How would you explain gay marriage to them. You don’t care what goes on in the private bedroom!!!

  10. mickmck707 said

You are in favor of gang bangs or any kind of sex. you have no morals at all. How do you explain that to kids?’ sicko”

  11. Chris said

Listen Mickmck707 (ie. Nazi)….It’s not a question of “supporting gang bangs” or “explaining gay marriage to my children”. There are 2 points I have to make here. Let’s start by posing the question to you….How do you explain pornography to your children?? How do you explain to your child that the man across the street is an alchoholic, how do you explain violence on TV to your children? Should we ban pornography, alchohol and violence on TV?? thre are many thing out there that you might not like, but that’s the cost of freedom. I don’t like the fact that people can carry around semi-automatic weapons concealed under their jackets. With so many crazy people out there it scares me, but that’s the cost of freedom. The second point I want to make is this. I really don’t think gay people care what you think, and thank God they don’t care! Who are you to tell people what they can and can’t do! I believe that it’s immoral for people to tell people what to do (as long as it doesn’t impede directly on my pursuit for happiness). If people want to have gang bangs in the privacy of their own homes…so be it! It’s not my business!!! Consenting adults should be able to do whatever they want with other consenting adults. And PLEASE do not bring religion into this discussion. I HATE religious arguments.

  12. mickmck707 said

I did not call you any names, I guess that is the only way that you can express yourself.#1 gay marriage is pornography.
#2 If you don’t like what is on t.v.turn it off.
#3 you don’t care about anything, so some people like to carry guns, most of the people carring automatic weapons are illegal aliens, but you welcome them into the country. As you said consenting adults should be able to do what ever they want and the government should mind their own business.
#4 If you hate religious arguments “shut up” you wack job. Now I called you a name. As far as being a nazi I am so far from that you would understand.

Why should the government define marriage at all? Let churches and individuals define marriage. And let adults set up civil unions under civil contract law, and let those unions be recognized by the government.

Ron Paul never votes for “group-think” (voting block) Bills. This is very important for Gays – God Fearing Straights – Blacks – Latinos – Immigrants. Never once in his entire career did he ask one group to pay (through taxation – Fed Funded Bills) for the desires of another group. Meaning “whites” do not pay for Bills that benefit only “blacks” (vice versa) Straight people do not pay for Bills that benefit Gays (vice versa) Pro-Choicers do not pay for Bills that benefit Pro-Lifers (vice versa).

To live in “liberty” you cannot have group-think — you must master your own destiny and not require others to support you (by force – coersion – taxation) when you fall — Of course Ron Paul does admonish us and suggest of our own free-will to support our brothers-sisters in need. This is the way the country used to be before the government got into the: banking business, regulatory business, welfare business, insurance business, warfare business — et al social issues business. The government’s role is supposed to be very tiny — Private Property Rights (which if followed to the Constitutional Letter would eliminate all forms of pollution) – Nation Security (only building military to protect our selves – NO NATION BUILDING) – and to protect Welfare (which originally mean “wellbeing” not tax-forced assistance). It would cost very little to support such a government.

Wow, guys, it’s really impressive that you want to conserve the “sanctity of marriage” that you think still exists. Wake up… if Britney Spears can get drunk and get married in Vegas and then break it off a day later, then two gay people who love each other sure as hell should be able to.

And as for the military? You’re going to actually be SPECIFIC about who gets to join? People die to preserve our country, and you have no right to determine who is good enough. Anybody can hold a gun.

Congratulations on your weak arguments and poor opinions. I hope that your children will be more informed voters than you.

This is a great site for us Ron Paul fans to meet. Great issues to debate. Regarding gays in the military, Ron Paul says each person’s rights are inaliable individual rights, not because we belong to any particular group, and thus gays and straights in the military have all the same rights. We Paulites must remember, we are fighting only for individual liberty, not group liberty.

What does it say about a society that requires the definition of marriage to have to be embedded in its constitution? Also, should marriage be defined in the constitution as “between a man and a woman FOR LIFE”, so we get rid of divorce? After all the Roman Catholic Church doesn’t allow for divorce because that is how they define it. Or is such a thing written so oppressive to people it would never pass? How about the Constitution NOT speak on what marriage is or is not, and the government mind its own business?

So, a major argument I see against homosexual marriage is that a child shouldn’t have two mommies or two daddies. But shoot, when you end up with divorce and remarriage, a kid gets two mommies AND two daddies, and that is ok. Wait, the problem is that the child doesn’t have a mother or father figure, right? All the more reason to end divorce (no children with single parents). And if the child lost a parent, then the state MUST act to make sure the child gets two parents, right?

This whole issue is a non-starter. It allows someone like Rudy, who has had multiple divorces to look like he is “strong on family values”, while not personally showing the capability of having a strong marriage. People think Paul manages to do grandstanding because his views have no chance of making it? What do you think this is? It is grandstanding so people don’t see you can’t even manage your own marriage.

In the battle on defending and living family values, Ron Paul is LIGHT YEARS beyond Rudy or Fred Thompson. He has been married to the same woman his entire life, and no divorce. But of course, for those who want to make this a divisive and cause people to not actually think on the real issues.

Paratrooper, I couldn’t help but agree with a lot of what Rich was saying and then I read what you had to say. I believe you can only make a statement like that if you believe that humans are inherantly evil. That is why most republicans and the more zealous religous people want to make more and more laws and contro our lives as much as possible. They believe that the human animal is inherantly broken. The government and certain religous factions (christianity among the top) have successfully ingrained into your way of thinking that we are a broken and twisted being and that we need to be governed. Don’t you see that in our ignorance we give them more and more power? And then they tell us they need more so they can protect us. I fear that a majority of the U.S. population has been sincerely convinced of our incapability to govern ourselves as you, Paratrooper have just so well proven my point with your comment. Can you really believe the human animal is broken? Are we inheranlty evil? For those of you that believe in a creator or god of some sort do you really believe your creator would design the perfect “broken” being? What kind of an oxy moron is that? I have only heard religous and homophobic arguments about this gay marriage issue but that doesn’t mean i’m not willing to listen to a well thought out argument because it is possible for two people to be right and ethical with two differant opinions. Enough name calling, all that tells me is that you have no valid point to prove. That is the last resort of ignorance. By the way. I for one am NOT broken.

  21. I never said anyone was broken. You are a sick person, you should get some help.

go get a life and leave people alone
what are you gonna do? lock up gay people?
    hahaha. you’re dumn

two gay people: “we just got married”
    dumn guy: “no you didn’t”

libertarian: “i stand for liberty and justice for all”
dumn guy: “why the hell would you want that?”

I have something to say to the people that use religion as an argument and want to restrict the lives of gay people.

Intolerance and reliqious rule go hand in hand with the mid-evil (lol) ways of thinking! If you dont like gay marriage than that is fine. You do not have to even like gay people! They probably dont like you! That is the beauty of liberty. You do not have to like the way someone lives their lives but you have to respect it so long as they are not hurting anyone else.

They you say “how will will explain it to out children??? OH GOD HOW???” Very simple, you say “little joey, those two men love each other. They were born that way they same way that man is born black. We have to respect their desicion”

There are much more potent issues going on in the USA then whether gay people should be allowed to married. These certain candidates that preach religion happen to be some of the most evil people we can elect! They use religious peoples faith to get your vote and then they rob america blind. We are in an illegal war, we have poverty, drugs etc etc. Real issues that need to be tackled.

So many of you will not vote for Ron Paul because you dont like his take of gay marriage, so what? I dont like that fact that he is a Republican b/c I am a democrat. But if Ron Paul ends up running as the Repulican president I am jumping shit to vote for him because he will make my life SO MUCH BETTER!!! AND YOUR LIFE SO MUCH BETTER regadless if you like him or not!.

You will have no income tax to pay, no IRS, no federal reserve which robs the American public blind and almost noone sees it. This man will bring our troops home so not another one will have to die for no good reason. The he will concentrate on making life in AMERICA better not somewhere else! That is the main point. He will be a president for AMERICANS, not for banks, big business, and other countries!

Questions such a gay marriage, pro life, etc… are the small issues that will not effect your everyday life. The Govenment does not belong in the bedroom it belongs at the white house, serving us to make our day to day lives better. The Govenments job is to make sure that we can life our lives to our potential and fulfill our goals and dreams. To give us the possibility of making our lives what we want them to be, not sending our young brave soilders to die so some people can line their pockets!

If some man such as george bush has practically ruined the USA, does it make sense to vote for someone that is going to continue to do what he does? Just because you might a agree with 3 or three of their opinions that matter nothing in the grand scale of things? That is your choice, but never be blinded by religion when it comes to politics, the two mix as well as oil and water.

If you are christian or jewish or muslim or buddhist or athiest and hold an american passport, you should all want the same things from your govenment! A chance to live your life the way you want it without the government sticking their nose into your business. As long as you are not hurting anyone of course.

The only candidate that will assure TRUE liberty is Ron Paul… You might not have to agree with everything he says, but he is the ONLY candidate that will make your life better. None of the other candidates care AT ALL about you, or what you want.

If you thought JFK was a revolutionary, wait untill Ron Paul becomes president. He will make the lives of EVERY american better, be they gay, christian, or a gay christian 😉

The man is a TRUE republican, a man the founding fathers of our great country would be proud to have serve his nation!

No Tax, No War, No Corruption, No IRS, No Federal Reserve.
Pro What you want to do and the support to do it.
    RON PAUL 2008!

Marriage is between two people who love each other. That is what everyone wants to believe. If our country continues to support freedom of love and then legalize it, soon we will be forced to allow all sexual minority’s of all kinds to wed, simply based on the fact that they love each other. It is not a right to marry, it is a commandment that God our creator has made along side His odvious plan for mankind to continue, and that is through the marriage covenant aggreement between a man and a women. If the law of the land allows for gay marriage it should only be done through the state government and not allowed in our churches and it should not be called a marriage either, it should be called a contract between individuals and the state. However, we must be prepared to accept all love agreements in society such as polygamy, polyandry, incest, pediphilia, and many worldly arrangements that can be legitamatly considered real and true love between individuals. Morals are the true foundation that we are disputing here, not what two gay men and women do in their bedrooms. Sexuality is private and homosexuality should not be allowed to be considered normal, for it is far from that in every sense of the word. We need to stop and think about what we are allowing. trouble may be comeing sooner than we think.
